Food Stall Thieves

Wat Botum Park is known as a place where both young and old people can do aerobics, meet friends, have something to eat, and so on.

But my friends and I know it as a place full of thieves stealing motorbike helmets.

One Saturday evening last month, I was in the park eating fried noodles, papaya spice mix, and meatballs with my friends. A group of travelers were walking between our seats and the parking lot close by.

We were chatting and not being careful. When the travelers walked across our line of sight, blocking us from seeing our bikes, my friend’s helmet disappeared from view.

Immediately, my friend, and I ran to the children, but they didn’t try to escape. They just dropped the helmet and walked away. They didn’t care that there were people around.

We took the helmet back and didn’t do anything to punish them.

We try our best to be careful but the thieves are really fast, and steal the helmet without a care.

It’s so sad that this beautiful park near the Royal Palace still has these people around.

When will it change?
